Whitby Events in 2015
Another year begins. We're already looking forward to what 2015 will bring; new guests, new friends, some warmer weather, and of course, some wonerful Whitby and North Yorkshire events!
Here's our run down of the key dates (in date order) for this year, as well as some of the more unusual events you may not have heard of!
Coastival - Scarborough, 13th - 14th February
One of the big cultural dates in Scarborough's yearly events calendar, Coastival brings together some of the best in the world of arts, music, dance, performance and drama. There's all sorts going on over 2 days, so if you're in the Whitby area this Valentine's Day it'll definitely be worth a look!
Whitby Spring Angling Festival - Whitby 11th - 26th April
If fishing's your thing, Whitby Charter Skippers Association are running a number of angling events through 2015, starting with their Spring Angling Festival. Dates and other information are all available on their website:

Festival of Speed Hill Climb - Oliver's Mount, Scarborough 2nd - 3rd May
For the motor racing fans out there, Oliver's Mount in Scarborough is the venue for a number of speedy petrol-fuelled events through 2015, including the Festival of Speed Hill Climb. For information about this and other motorcycle events visit the organiser's website:
Whitby Gospel Music Convention - 15th - 17th May
Whitby Gospel Music Convention draws hundreds of visitors from around the country and the world for their wonderful Whitby weekend of gospel music. Visit their website for all the details including ticket pricing and a list of performers:

Robin Hood's Bay Folk Weekend - 5th - 7th June
Robin Hood's Bay Folk Weekend is always a wonderful event, with musicians crammed into every available space and spilling out onto the streets! Currently only the dates have been released, but more information will be available from their website in due course:

North Yorkshire Open Studios - 6th - 7th and 13th - 14th June
As an oppertunity to visit some of Yorkshire's most wonderfully inspiring locations as well as enjoying the best art we have to offer, North Yorkshire Open Studio's can't be beaten! Their website's yet to be updated, but it should be soon with a full list of all the exhibitors, locations and associated events and information:
The North Yorkshire Open Studios (NYOS) is a free event that combines culture, breathtaking views and a chance to hone your navigation skills.
From the remote hills of the upper Dales across the Vale of York to the North York Moors and the Yorkshire coast, a wide range of painters, printmakers, jewellery-makers, sculptors, potters, textiles artists, photographers and other visual art professionals will be inviting members of the public to see new work in the making and discover how this diverse range of artists create their work.
Artists will open up their studios across North Yorkshire as part of this annual selling event that combines culture, breathtaking views and a chance to hone your navigation skills.
The event is in its eleventh year and has grown incrementally to become one of the major events in North Yorkshire’s cultural calendar, as well as one of the North’s most prestigious open studios event.
With studios located right across the county, from the remote hills of the Upper Dales to the suburban streets of Harrogate, across the Vale of York to the rural North Yorks Moors and Coast, this is a fantastic chance to spend a leisurely weekend discovering original artwork – from cutting edge craft and design to contemporary sculpture, paintings and ceramics.
Classic Cars and Vehicles Weekend - NYMR 11th - 12th July
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway's ever popular Classic Vehicles Weekend is back, with a great display of classic cars and vehicles at Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont Stations. This year, live music from Whitby's Five Divide and Jive Express will be entertaining you at Levisham Station.

Whitby Regatta - 14th - 17th August
The Whitby Regatta 2015 August 14th,15th,16th,17th, presents to you, four days of entertainment, embracing yacht racing, rowing races and various free forms of entertainment as published in the official programme, finishing with a prize presentation and spectacular firework display.
One hundred and seventy five years of aquatic competition and entertainment. The Whitby Regatta is probably the oldest sea Regatta on the northeast coast and has drawn large crowds into Whitby over the years.

Whitby Folk Week - 22nd - 28th August
Celebrating 50 years, Whitby Folk Week is a wonderful event, filling the whole town with amazing music. Early bird tickets are available, and all the information will be available shortly via their website:
Scarborough Jazz Festival - 25th - 27th Septemer
Scarborough Jazz Festival draws some of the biggest names in the jazz world to our wonderful Yorkshire coast for their yearly extravaganza. As testament to how popular it is, their 'Super Early Bird' tickets have already sold out, but full weekend 'Early Bird' tickets are available for just £85. For all the information visit:

Danby Christmas Craft Fair - 14th - 15th November
Danby Moors Centre holds a number of events throughout the year. This Christmas (I appreciate that feels a long way off!) they'll be holding a Christmas Craft Fair celebrating all kinds of interesting and traditional crafts and complete with a visit from Father Christmas and some traditional organ music. Delightful!

Robin Hood's Bay Victorian Weekend - TBC
The information is yet to be released, as the previous event has only just been held! However, it's usually around the first weekend in December and if you're planning a trip around that time it's not to be missed!
