The Esk Valley - Perfect for the Adventurous Group Holiday
The Esk Valley is the perfect place for an adventurous group holiday. Whether you're looking for great countryside walks (for all abilities), cycling, water sports, climbing or something else - we've got it covered.
Walking
Aislaby Lodge Cottages is located in the picturesque Esk Valley, only a few miles from Whitby. We've got easy access to some of the best countryside walking in the area including (almost) direct access onto the Cleveland Way, the Coast to Coast and the Cinder Track between Whitby and Scarborough.
Not to mention a myriad of other footpaths and bridleways to explore, linking our picturesque villages, coastal scenery and moorland.
Whether you're looking for something for the experienced walker, or a family-friendly amble through some beautiful scenery we have something to suit all abilities.
Cycling
With easy access onto National Cycle Network routes, as well as the Moors to Sea Cycle Route and the Cinder Track linking Whitby with Scarborough via Robin Hood's Bay, we're not short of excellent cycle routes.
And we've not even mentioned the jewel in the crown of Yorkshire's cycling options... Dalby Forest - the home of mountain biking in the North of England.
Dalby has several dedicated mountain bike routes, catering for all ages and experiences. Choose from the family-friendly green route, or challenge yourself with the blue or red routes. Bikes are available to hire and the routes are open year-round, meaning you can enjoy the cool shade of the trees in the summer, or get muddy and dirty through the winter - your choice!
Bikes can also be hired in Whitby at Dr Crank's and also at Trailways in Hawsker, just outside Whitby.
Water Sports
Whitby Surf School is open throughout the year - available for private individual or group tuition, and also offering equipment hire. You can also hire boards at the surf shack in Sandsend.
We're also close to Scaling Dam, our local reservoir where the adventurous can enjoy sailing and wind surfing.
Something Else?
With climbing walls in Middlesbrough and York, and a host of other outdoor pursuits available throughout the region, Yorkshire is the best place in the country to enjoy some adventurous outdoor activities (as far as we're concerned!).
Bring your boots. Bring your bikes. Prepare to get wet, muddy and wind-swept. And then relax with a hot bath, a nice drink and some of the best views and most peaceful scenery available at Aislaby Lodge Cottages!
Group Holiday Accommodation
Aislaby Lodge Cottages can accommodation large groups of 20+ in comfort. Each of our cottages is beautifully furnished and most have wood burning stoves, or open fires, keeping them cosy even in the winter.
