Come and Enjoy a Break by the Sea

The sun is shining here on the Yorkshire Coast. Whitby always looks its best in the summer - with the huge sandy beach stretching for miles and the sea sparkling and blue.

Ok, so the sea's maybe not quite as warm and inviting as it first seems - but it's definitely refreshing! Beach huts can be rented by the day or the week and make a fantastic base if you're planning on spending lots of time on Whitby's exapansive sandy beach.

If you make your way down onto the prom you'll find the big blue Beach Management Centre where the huts can be hired. This is also where the nearest public toilets are along with a cafe selling meals, drinks and snacks throughout the day.

If you're planning on taking a dip in the sea then please be careful. The currents are quite strong and can take even a very confident swimmer by surprise. The RNLI Lifeguards are on the beach throughout the year - so the safest option is to always swim between the flags.

Whitby Surf School is open throughout the season too - so you can try your hand at body boarding, surfing or paddle boarding and hire all the gear directly on the beach. You'll find them just next to the Cliff Lift or online http://whitbysurfschool.co.uk/.

Whitby really is the jewel in the crown of the North Yorkshire coastline. The Whitby area really does have it all - from the picturesque sandy beach to the dramatic moorland, quaint villages and bustling towns.
