Autumn Music Events in Whitby, North Yorkshire
Another September rolls into view. It's been a typically busy summer season here in Whitby and the Esk Valley. The annual events of Regatta Weekend, RNLI Flag Day and the world-famous Whitby Folk Week bringing the crowds to our wonderful seaside town.
With the children returning to school next week and things starting to quieten down in town a little we're looking ahead to the autumn. There's always something going on in Whitby or the nearby area. Here's a quick rundown of up and coming events:
Whitby Country Music Festival
Friday 8th - Saturday 9th September 2017
Organised by Howard Hebron, the weekend festival has been held at the Whitby Pavilion every year since 2003.
Overlooking the beach, with lots of comfy chairs, good stage views, a huge dance area, bar, food, stalls etc, creating a great atmosphere to enjoy music from a cross section of some of the UK's best country artists.
The event comprises three separate and different shows - Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening with different artists on each show. Tickets are available for each show individually, or for the full weekend.
There is no camping or caravanning on site, but there are hundreds of B&B's and hotels within walking distance - and we time the event to be just after the main season ends and prices are reasonable!
Motown Soul Weekender
Friday 15th - Saturday 16th September 2017
For those who want a lighter weekender with more familiar favourites from the world of Motown and Soul's golden era (60's-80's), Whitby Pavilion is the perfect venue - on the clifftop looking over the beautiful town of Whitby, North Yorkshire.
Already a massive hit with its July Northern Soul Weekend, this 2nd event at the famous venue brings 2 nights of glorious music to one of the best locations on the East Coast.
Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd October 2017
This year’s 18th Musicport Festival held in the beautiful port of Whitby on the Yorkshire coast promises its usual high quality and eclectic line-up.
All in one indoor venue overlooking the North Sea with 6 stages (and a comedy bus) it is widely regarded as a great way to end the festival season and coincides with the October half term for many.
With indoor camping as an option, a festival bazaar in the main hall and international food vans it has the outdoor festival vibe but protected from the elements and with lots of activities to participate in as well as acts to see.
In addition to the main festival the festival goes on tour to the surrounding villages on the Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday following the main event.
This was a successful innovation in 2016 and makes staying around for a few days even more of an option for visitors as well as extending opportunities for audiences and performers.
